Police make major heroin bust in Sunrise
Drugs valued at $17,000 seized Dingman Detectives from the Pike County District Attorney’s Office, along with the Pike County Drug Task force and the Pennsylvania State Police, seized over $17,000 worth of heroin from a residence in Sunrise Lakes Dingman Township Tuesday. Detectives from the District Attorney’s Office obtained a search warrant from Pike County President Judge Joseph Kameen authorizing the search of the residence on Wild Meadow Road for heroin and drug related items. During the search of the residence police discovered over 800 bags which are believed to contain heroin, with a street value estimated to be over $ 17,000. Police arrested James Miranda, 21, of Dingman Township and charged him with Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Criminal Conspiracy, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Police also arrested Mikhail C. Kosenkov, 22, of Shohola and charged him with Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance and Criminal Conspiracy. During the search of the residence police discovered a four year old boy present by himself asleep on the couch. Due to the condition of the home, the police notified Pike County Children and Youth Services. Children and Youth Services obtained an emergency custody order from President Judge Kameen placing the boy into the custody of Children and Youth Services. First Assistant District Attorney Ray Tonkin, coordinator of the Pike County Drug Task Force, said this was the largest heroin seizure that he could remember. “Unfortunately. we have seen a dramatic increase in the quantity of heroin found during raids such as the one yesterday.” According to Tonkin, “The Pike County Drug Task Force is working very hard to stem the flow of this devastating drug into our communities,” he said. Miranda and Kosenkov were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jay R. Rose of Hawley. Miranda was sent to the Pike County Correctional Facility in lieu of $200,000 bail, and Kosenkov was also sent to the Pike County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail. They each face a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Alan Cooper next week.
