Rainy day vote

MILFORD — Rain like this at borough hall contributed to keeping voter turnout down Tuesday. Borough election official Ron Gregory had signed in only 77 voters by early afternoon and was hoping to break 100. He said the normal showing would be something between 200 and 300. While the weather was blamed for a turnout of 4,878 countywide, it did exceed the last non-presidential congressional primary in 2006, when only 3,598 voters came out. This was an off-year election in Pike as local races were limited party committee races, most of which were uncontested, several position lacking ballot candidates. Elizabeth Forrest (D) and Harry Forbes (R) and Julie Forbes (R) were uncontested to retain state party committee roles. Dingman Township had one of few contested races for its 13 Republican Committee seats. Familiar names there winning elections included Supervisor Tom Mincer; DV School Board members: Bob Goldsack, John Kupillas and Diane French; Yolanda Goldsack, Patricia Kupillas, Thomas Foran and Centa Quinn.
