Recycling office machines: killer bytes

Pike Builders recycling event a success Hawley The Pike County Builders (PCBA) held their second electronic recycling event in late April. It was held at the Wallenpaupack Area High School in Hawley along with Advanced Recovery Inc. of Port Jervis, NY. At $5 per carload, over 150 cars came piled high with computers, monitors, televisions, stereos and household appliances. Advanced Recovery filled two tractor-trailers full of items. Bob Pierce, president of the association, said “we more than doubled what was taken in at the first event held last September”. The total was 24,459 pounds of recyclables. There were 311 computer monitors, 136 televisions, 110 computer systems, 50+ keyboards, vacuum cleaners, copiers and more.
