Republicans give famed Flag the Nod at annual Lincoln Dinner

At the recent Wayne County Republican Club’s annual Lincoln Dinner the guest speakers included Senator Lisa Baker, (pictured) Rep. Mike Pfeifer and State Attorney General Tom Corbet. Each speaker made reference to Pike County’s famed artifact, the Lincoln Flag, which was brought to the event in an effort to share information about Pike County’s treasure in this, the Bicentennial year of Lincoln’s birth. A touching moment came when the room of attendees, well over 160 persons, recited the “Pledge of Allegiance” with the Lincoln Flag as the focal point. Representing the Pike County Historical Society were Lori Strelecki, museum director; Barbara Buchanan, president emeritus; and Emilie Shadel, society board member. The Pike County Historical Society has an event-filled year planned to coincide with the bicentenary celebration.
