Rotary promotes student dictionary campaign
LORDS VALLEY - The Rotary Club of Lords Valley recently presented a check for $1,000 from their 50/50 Dictionary Campaign raffle to winner, Bill Hawkins. The Rotary Club of Lords Valley sold 50/50 raffles totaling $2,000, specifically to raise funds to buy new current combination dictionary/encyclopedias. This annual program, now entering into its sixth year, is to provide this free school aid to every third grade student in Pike County. The Rotary Club of Lords Valley was the first club in Pennsylvania to offer this service and was instrumental in getting 24 other Pennsylvania Rotary Clubs to sponsor the dictionary project in their areas. The Rotary Club of Lords Valley meets at a luncheon on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 12:15 p.m. at our new location, St. Neumann Catholic Church, opposite Mr. Z’s on state Route 739 in Lords Valley.
