Schneider, McKean win senior class honors
WESTFALL - Delaware Valley High School has named Jasper Schneider as the valedictorian for the graduating Class of 2006. Jasper is the son of Celina and Tom Schneider of Dingman’s Ferry. Jasper will attend Cornell University in the fall, pursuing an engineering degree. In high school, Jasper has been involved in many academic activities. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. He was honored as a Student of the Month in each of his four years at the school. He earned medals in Science Olympiad and awards in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Sciences Regional and State Competitions. He has been involved in Scholastic Bowl, and the National Youth Leadership Forum on Technology. He has won many Math and Science awards and he won the Rensselaer Medal. Jasper was also a National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalist. He was a volunteer in the annual Senior Citizens’ Dinner at the high school and in the 9/11 Memorial Service. Benjamin McKean has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2006. Ben is the son of Lori and Mike McKean of Shohola. Ben plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania in the fall and major in Business. In high school, Ben has been a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. He has been involved in Model United Nations and Science Olympiad. Ben was the recipient of the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Award and National Merit Scholarship Commended Student Award. Ben is also very athletic. He was the captain of the Freshman and Junior Varsity Basketball teams and a member of the Varsity Basketball team, in which he won the Coaches Award. Ben was also involved in Cross Country and he is a Junior Rotarian and Biddy Basketball volunteer.
