WESTFALL — Guidance Department Chair Jay Tucker earlier this month presented his annual report on the graduating class. When SAT averages in relation to the national average were questioned by the board of Educaton, Tucker said he compiles each student’s best score, while College Board uses the most recent score. With Tucker’s method, the class of 2008 improved 17 points since the previous year, rising from 1505 to 1522. The guidance counselor further reported Delaware Valley is ranked 362 out of 500 Pennsylvania schools for per-pupil spending. Board members Diane French and John Wroblewski, along with Dingman Delaware Middle School teacher Jayson Pope recently attended a seminar and conference on how to become a “model school.” They used a slide-show to present their findings, which include the importance of teaching skills to survive in a global economy, and “rigor, relevance, and relationships.” French emphasized a community and school effort in order to reach Delaware Valley’s potential as the top Pennsylvania school.
