Science Olympics next week

    WILKES-BARRE — Delaware Valley high and middle schools competitors will among those from 52 northeastern and central Pennsylvania schools at the Pennsylvania Northeast Regional Science Olympiad 2010 on March 10. The competition, sponsored by Penn State, will take place on Wednesday from 9 to 4 p.m. at the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus (Lehman). More than 750 students will compete in events such as disease detective, egg-o-naut, junkyard challenge, and other events in the fields of anatomy, biology, chemistry, physics, problem solving, and technology. Winners of both junior and senior high schools will advance to the state competition in April at Juniata College. Opening Ceremonies will take place at the gymnasium beginning at 8:15 a.m.; events campus wide are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by award presentations and closing ceremonies at 3:30 p.m.
