On Dec. 5 and 6, seven DVHS band members, accompanied by band director Lance Rauh, traveled to the campus of Marywood University in Scranton to participate in the annual Marywood University Honors Band. Flute player Brianna Fairbanks, clarinet player Kira Morrison, bass clarinet player Joseph Yoon, alto Sax player Josh Smith, French Horn Rick DiAgostino, trombone player Jessie Fitzpatrick and tuba player Matthew Stewart all represented DVHS in the invitational band festival. They were among 150 area students selected to participate in the weekend-long festival of music. Under the direction of Marywood University Director of Bands Professor William Weber, band students from all over the area (including upstate New York and Maryland) had the opportunity to perform high-level band literature. The students enjoyed two days of intensive rehearsals that culminated in a concert displaying the talents of all the students involved. The festival served as an educational weekend of music giving the students the experience of interacting with other high school and college musicians.
