Shohola Scouts in Klondike Derby
| 30 Sep 2011 | 08:04

MONTICELLO, N.Y. Area Boy Scouts from Shohola Troop 76 participated in the annual Klondike derby, held on January 30, at the Mahogany Ridge Hunting Club in Monticello, N.Y. These scouts successfully transported required gear on a sled they built, which was then pulled by the scouts to 10 stations where patrols tested their scoutcraft skills and their leadership abilities, while judging points towards a total score. The Boy Scouts of America have been running Klondike derbies since 1949, based on the heritage of the Klondike Gold Rush. Boy Scout Troop 76 meets weekly on Monday nights at 7 p.m. in the Shohola Elementary School cafeteria. Find more information about joining this group at http://troop76-shohola.com.
