A floral tribute marks the corner where a 53-year-old Shohola woman died Tuesday evening when she and her daughter were struck by a vehicle as they attempted to cross Broad Street at its George Street intersection. Milford Borough Police Chief Gary Williams said Joanne Grecco and her daughter, Jennifer Grecco, 23, were walking from the easterly curb when they were struck in the northbound lane of Broad Street by a Toyota Tundra pickup truck. Williams said driver Wanda Mesa, 29, of Matamoras was making a left-hand from West George Street at the time of the 5:20 p.m. accident. Joanne Grecco was transported to Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, N.Y., where she was pronounced dead. Jennifer Grecco was not seriously injured, and was treated and released. Williams said charges stemming from the accident are still pending investigation. Grecco’s death was the borough’s first pedestrian death in Williams 37 years on the borough force and the first traffic accident-related death since 1995.
