Siptroth recovering at home
MARSHALLS CREEK State Rep. John Siptroth, D-Monroe/Pike, earlier this week was released from the hospital and is recovering from heart surgery at his Monroe County home. He was said to be in good spirits and eager to return to work. Siptroth, 60, was admitted at the Pocono Medical Center on the morning of Dec. 20 after feeling ill. Tests revealed Siptroth had suffered a heart attack, a statement from his office reported. He was reportedly on his way to meeting in Pike County at the time he was stricken. The legislator underwent triple bypass surgery on the same day and reportedly contracted a cold during his post surgical stay, which prolonged his hospitalization. The bypass surgery was Siptroth’s second in the past ten years. In addition to portions of Monroe County, Siptroth’s district includes Delaware, Lehman and Porter townships and District One of Dingman Township in Pike County.
