A birthday celebration not to be forgotten Milford — Many things have changed in the last ninety years - prohibition, the Great Depression, World War I and II, the infamous ‘60s, the Beatles, color TV, hybrid cars, and a host of other things - but what has stayed the same all these years is the warmth, the caring and the strong family bond the Neugebauers share. On Friday, June 20, three sisters celebrated their parents’ 90 birthdays and unveiled a bench they sponsored commemorating them as a part of Milford Enhancement Committee’s Make a Memory campaign. On June 20 and Dec. 24 of this year, Frank and Stefanie Neugebauer, respectively celebrate their 90th birthdays. This year their three daughters, Doris, Ingrid and Heidi, wanted to make to make it special and commemorate the momentous year with a bench in Milford dedicated to their parents. “Our parents have always done so much for us as children - always sacrificing themselves for their children, friends and family,” said Doris Neugebauer. “They are very caring, giving people.” In the courtyard of Fretta’s Italian Specialties store sits a bench that Frank and Stefanie sat many times while walking through Milford. That particular bench is the bench that Doris, Ingrid and Heidi have decided to sponsor to commemorate their parents. Making this birthday even more memorable, Heidi Schumann-Neugebauer, one of the three sisters, is flying in from Germany just to celebrate her parents’ birthdays with her family. If you would like to commemorate someone special, a moment that is forever ingrained in your mind, or a feeling you never want to go away, you can sponsor a pedestrian light or bench in the Borough of Milford.
