Soapbox fundraiser planned

PORT JERVIS, N.Y. The Port Jervis Soap Box Derby will be holding its annual scholarship fundraiser on May 1. The derby developed the Scholarship Fund several years ago in memory of derby driver Elizabeth Ashley “Boo” Bisland. Each year, a current or former Soap Box driver receives the scholarship to help with the costs of continuing education. This year’s event will be A Hawaiian Luau at the Erie Trackside Manor in Port Jervis, from 6 p.m. to midnight, and it will feature dinner, dancing, an open bar, hot hors d’ ouevres and Hawaiian fruit display. Diner’s food choices will include: Hawaiian Ginger Chicken, Coconut Shrimp, and Teriaki Steak. The date is Saturday May 1, and the cost is $65 per person. Come in your best Luau attire - but no shorts, please.
