Special Olympian honored

International Special Olympian and gold-medal skier, DV student Victor Beadle, and coach Eric Kudrich are pictured as they appeared at the district board of education meeting on March 19. The soft-spoken skier, who won gold and silver medals earlier this year in world games held in Idaho, thanked the board for affording him an opportunity that he would never had experienced otherwise. In addition to the competition, he met U.S. Olympic skier Billy Kidd, marched in President Obama’s Inaugural Parade and was introduced on the ice at a Philadelphia Flyers hockey game. Spontaneous applause erupted Thursday with the playing of a video of his award presentation. Kudrich, a 27-year DV teacher, thanked the board for its continuing support of special olympics in the district. “It’s been quite a year for Victor,” he added. “He’s done a fabulous job.” The spring special olympics competition at DV is scheduled for May 14.
