Milford - The DV Cal Ripken Baseball season is well under way. Along with exciting games every night of the week, and Saturdays, there are many important upcoming dates to remind league members about. All-Star tryouts will be held the weekends of May 21 and May 28. There are four teams in which a league player is eligible to try out for, the 9-year-old team, 10-year-old team, the 11-year-old team, and the 12-year-old team. Every age eligible league member is encouraged to try out. The players must attend at least one of the tryouts, no exceptions. The dates and times of the try outs are as follows; Sunday, May 21 at Airport Park 1:00 p.m. for the 10 and 12-year-olds and 3:00 p.m. for the 9 and 11-year-olds. On Sunday, May 28 at Airport Park tryouts are at 1:00 p.m. for the 9 and 11-year olds and 3 p.m for the 10 and 12-year-olds. If you have any questions, please inquire with your team coach. The district tournaments will be held at various locations the week of June 18. On Sunday, June 4, the baseball league is sponsoring the fourth annual Sussex Skyhawks Day at Skylands Stadium. The tickets are $9 per seat, box seats, and the game begins at 2:05 p.m. The league players can wear their uniform shirts and stand on the field with the players for the singing of the National Anthem. It is a wonderful day for the league to come together and enjoy the game of baseball in a clean, family environment. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets can call 570-686-3045 or stop by the Milford Concession Stand for a form. The league is also planning to hold an end-of-season picnic. It will be held on Saturday, June 10, at the Milford Ball Park. There will be food and fun for all. The picnic will be held during the league championship games. The rain date will be Sunday, June 11. Finally, the league would like to give a huge “THANK YOU” to Prime Time Meats and Jorgensen’s Deli for their continuous support and donations to our league. Thank you for all that you do. Any questions or comments, please contact league president, Joe Decker at 570-296-2929.
