DV girls soccer strives for success on the pitch

MILFORD — This season is all about building momentum through hard work, practicing skills day after day, discipline and integrity in matches, and learning from mistakes.
It all contributes to the growing confidence of the Delaware High School girl’s soccer program.
The Warriors finished just a few games below the .500 mark at 7-11-1 last year, and are looking forward to sternly testing any opponent they face. And that includes those in Lackawanna Division 1 this fall.
Given that they will face stern competition at virtually every turn, reaching their goals won’t be easy. But with the right attitude, they're headed for success.
“Our goal for the year is to be competitive in a tough Lackawanna Division I, so that we were are prepared to peak in the District playoffs following the (regular) season,” Delaware Valley head coach Jeff Rainear said. “The teams to beat this year in Division are Wallenpaupack and Abington Heights. In District playoffs it will be Williamsport."
Returning student-athletes for the Warriors this year include:
Stefanie O’Grady (senior, goal keeper)
Ciera Cavallaro (junior, midfield)
Reilly Henry (junior forward)
Haley Korfmann (junior, back)
Faith Fucetola (junior, forward)

Newcomers for Delaware Valley are:

“My captains are Reilly Henry and Jillian Reich, but I am looking for leadership from all of my junior starters,” Rainear said. “We stress leading by example in our program, on and off the field.”
On Monday, Sept. 26, the Warriors have a road game scheduled at Minisink Valley. Delaware Valley closes out the month with home challenge versus Abington Heights on Sept. 28. They begin October with a road match at Port Jervis on the first. Three days later, they have a road challenge at North Pocono.
The Warriors return home on Oct. 6 to host Wallenpaupack Area. After traveling to Valley View on Oct. 10, Delaware Valley has three consecutive homes games slated versus Scranton Preparatory, Honesdale and Crestwood on Oct. 13, Oct. 19 and Oct. 20, respectively.
