WESTFALL - A 2-6 final score on April 12 left the Delaware Valley girls soccer team with its first loss on the home turf since the start of the season (5-2-1 overall). The 90 minute battle against Nanticoke for the league’s number two spot was unsuccessful for the Warriors. At the half, Delaware Valley had yet to score. In the second half , Michele Kolenet scored the team’s first goal off a penalty kick. With three minutes left on the clock, Kolenet went on to score the second and final goal. A half-dozen yellow cards were thrown in the intense, hands-on game which had Delaware Valley Coach Tyler Dennis nervous at some points concerning the possible injury of his players. At the game’s end, Dennis stated that, “The girls put up a good fight, and we’ll see them again at the end of the season.” For additional photos from the game, visit pikecountycourier.com
