Honesdale upsets Delaware Valley in overtime thriller

In a surprising turn of events, the Honesdale Hornets upset the Delaware Valley Warriors 52-49 in an overtime thriller. Despite a 17-point victory over Honesdale earlier in the season and a 3-12 record, Honesdale came out strong and had a double-digit lead in the first period.

Delaware Valley managed to close the gap but Honesdale remained ahead at the half, leading 27-23. In the third period, Honesdale continued to build their lead but Delaware Valley managed to tie the game at 32 all. Honesdale regained the lead, but in the final seconds of regulation, Delaware Valley’s Ronnie McManus sank a 3-point shot to tie the game at 45 and force overtime.

Although Delaware Valley scored first in overtime, their performance deteriorated, and Honesdale took advantage, ultimately securing the victory.

Despite the loss, Delaware Valley’s Ronnie McManus had an outstanding game, playing a pivotal role in the game’s final moments. Chris U’Glay also had a standout performance, dominating under the basket and preventing Honesdale from scoring.

The game was marred by controversy, as coaches and fans protested a number of the official’s calls.
