PITTSTON - The Delaware Valley girls’ volleyball season ended their season Tuesday night in the regional playoffs at Pittston, matched against Hatboro Horsham High School from suburban Philadelphia. It was the furthest the team has ever advanced. The Warriors came to the regionals following the district championship game on Nov. 1 against Hazelton. The girls lost their first two games and made an astonishing comeback to win the next three. Fans were expecting nearly the same thing on this week when the Lady Warriors lost the first two games 14-25 and 15-25, and came back with an unseen ferocity for the third game, but the comeback stalled and Delaware Valley lost by the closest of margins, 23-25. Delaware Valley was the number one seed in the District 2 Championship and beat Hazleton in what many called the most exciting game all season. With wins in the third, forth, and fifth game, the traveling Warrior fans appropriately chanted “What a comeback.” “I am excited out of my mind, We were overconfident in the first two games, but we were defiantly pumped up to win the final three,” commented junior Emily Dorko following the district win. Senior Taylor Crawford explained the dramatic turn in the district match by stating that, “we just wanted it more.”
