Special Olympics comes to DV

Gavin Munro just broke a DV record for running. He was excited and happy with the results. He told us he runs four miles every day. From left: Scarlett Weir, Mia Purdon, Ryan O’Connor, Adrianna Buchanan, Gavin Munro, Nixon Kameen, Ty Bates, and Jason King.

We began our interviews with Dominque Cavallaro. She sang the National Anthem. She sings the anthem at basketball games and many other sporting events. She started singing at the age of three. Next up for interview was Dr. John Bell, Superintendent of Delaware Valley School District. He spoke about what it was like to be the superintendent. He told us that Delaware Valley has been hosting the Special Olympics for 11 years. He said that he loves the Olympics and that there are about 20 different events held. He was asked what would happen if it rained, and he explained that they always have a rain date and it is usually the next day. Pictured is Dr. Bell with Adrianna Buchanan and Nixon Kameen.

Mikaela Larry and Billy Hodgins were asked about being volunteers at the Special Olympics. They really enjoy helping. Mikaela also said that she just tried out and got accepted into Kutztown University’s Cheerleading team.
