'Taking Our Shot' 5K will raise money for juvenile diabetes

— On Saturday, May 20, the Lordi family will be hosting the fifth annual Taking Our Shot at Inspiring Hope 5K at Camp Speers YMCA in Dingmans Ferry.
All proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Chris and Leslie Lordi’s daughter Josephine was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on Oct. 19, 2012. Last year's 5K raised more than $8,000 was raised for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Now in its fifth year, Taking Our Shot at Inspiring Hope has raised more than $50,000 through its partnership with Camp Speers YMCA, JDRF, SDWR, Ray 'n Charles Diner and Wal-Mart. This fundraising effort is supported each year by donors, sponsors, family and friends.
Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and the race starts at 9:00 a.m. There will be awards for walkers and runners, a basket raffle, a kids’ fun run, refreshments and more. To pre-register online or for more information, visit https://lordic.wix.com/takingourshot.
The cost is $20 for pre-registered adults and $15 for pre-registered students under 18. Registration on the day of the race is $25.
The course is a trail course with challenges for all types of athletes and is chip-timed.
