WESTFALL - Coming off a two-game losing streak, the Delaware Valley boys’ basketball team won their first game Dec. 10 against Carbondale Area at their home debut. The Chargers emerged from halftime with a one point lead over the Warriors, 34-33. The contest remained tight throughout the rest of the game, with Delaware coming back and opening a seven point lead at the 70-63 final. Sophomore Ryan Murphy led the team, scoring 25. Warrior senior Jaywong Benton, scored 21 and commented that the “amazing” defense was a key in their victory. Asked about his feelings concerning the game, head varsity coach Tony Carnuccio said, “I thought we played hard. And I know we’re going to play hard every night. We’ve just got to do a little bit better job taking care of the ball. But we shot the ball well, and if things keep rolling we’ll be fine.” After a road game against Abington Heights, the boys’ next home game is Saturday afternoon, Dec. 17 at 2:30 p.m. versus Valley View.
