Spring on Ice: Freak hail storm bombs Pike
| 29 Sep 2011 | 03:26

A 10-minute hail storm late Monday afternoon left huge chunks of ice in Dingmans and other parts of Pike County. Could it be a harbinger of summer? The hail stones were said to be about the size of golf balls, or bigger in places. Here they litter the deck of the Marilyn Rosenthal home in Dingmans Ferry. The hail metamorphosed into chunks of ice when they hit the surface ground as you can see in the picture. Many pieces or chunks ranged from two to six inches in length and depth and some were very jagged. No injuries or structural damage was reported.
