State to canvass for dog licenses
MILFORD The state Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement will canvass the Sunrise Lake and Pine Ridge Communities in Pike County during the week of Oct. 5 to Oct. 9. State law requires that all dogs three months or older be licensed. The fee is $6.50 for spayed/neutered dogs, $8.50 for other dogs. For seniors and persons with disabilities the fee is $4.50 for spayed/ neutered dogs and $6.50 for others. Violators will be cited. The maximum fine is $300 per violation plus court costs. Rabies vaccinations are required for dogs and cats over three months of age, living in a dwelling. The maximum fine per violation of the rabies law is $300. All dogs must be under control and are not permitted to run-at-large. Complaints may be reported to James Rickert, Pike/Wayne counties state dog law enforcement officer at 570-488-9562.
