LACKAWAXEN — Gov. Ed Rendell announced Monday that Pike and Wayne counties will receive $3.2 million in funding to rehabilitate 23 miles of track, including bridge rehabilitation, to bring the Stourbridge Railroad line up to current operating standards. The Stourbridge Railroad connects Honesdale and Norfolk-Southern tracks at Lackawaxen. The grant was the largest single project appropriation in the $24.5 million announcement of state investment from PennDOT’s Rail Freight Capital Budget/Transportation Assistance and Rail Freight Assistance Programs. The grant announcement covered 31 counties and aids some 39 rail freight companies.
