Street that isn't there plagues resident

MILFORD Jim Snyder wants to build a house on the High Street property his family has taken care of for years, but so far, he can’t. The problem is that Snyder’s plans would site the house three feet out into Eighth Street - that is if there were an Eighth Street there. The street was planned, mapped, but never built. Snyder says one neighbor, who he said was involved in separate legal issues involving her property, has refused to give up the street access. Township officials, who are willing to help him, can’t abandon the street until his neighbor does. Snyder, who has come before the supervisors with an attorney several times in recent months, told the supervisors he thought he’d try it by himself. He said his home financing will be gone, if there’s no house going up by June. “It’s very frustrating. I thought it would be simple. We want to pay taxes on this street,” he said. Solicitor Doug Jacobs and Supervisor Don Quick suggested that if Snyder could get the house off the “street” proper, and a variance from lot setback could be gotten from the zoning board of appeals, the two supervisors on hand at Monday’s meeting would vote to approve it.
