MILFORD - One of the county’s most prominent volunteers was honored recently for some of her lower profile efforts. At the annual Awards & Recognitions Celebration of the Sarah Wells Girl Scout Council, area volunteers were honored for service to their Girl Scout community and council. The Thanks Badge was presented to Sue Casey of Milford for her dedication and service. The Thanks Badge II is presented to an adult member whose performance is truly outstanding and benefits the total council or the entire Girl Scout movement. The specifications for the award direct that it is reserved for scout leaders who “significantly exceeded expectations stated in the service description.” Nominations for the Thank Badge II further require at least four accompanying letters of recommendation. Sue Casey, who also volunteers service as president of the Delaware Valley Board of School Directors, has been a Girl Scout volunteer for over 20 years serving as a troop leader, a member of various committees, volunteers to assist at numerous programs and is serving on the Board of Directors for the Council as the Secretary. Her dedication and belief in the program are truly reflected in her continuous service to girls in Pike County. Addressing some 200 volunteeers in keynote remarks, Council President, Susan Allioux, thanked all the volunteers for their endless time and energy in delivering the Girl Scout Program to 7,000 young girls in our area.
