Their name has changed, the mission has not

MILFORD Survivors’ Resources recently changed its name to Safe Haven, Inc. of Pike County. The new name reflects the agency’s time honored mission and philosophy of providing support services in a safe and confidential environment to victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Safe Haven will be launching a comprehensive public awareness campaign in October, called Paint Pike Purple in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The color purple is used nationally to raise awareness surrounding the trauma and tragedy experienced by victims of domestic violence. This campaign is designed to endorse non-violence in Pike County by Promoting Domestic Peace! The Paint Pike County Purple project incorporates fundraising projects and prevention education outreach efforts directed toward schools, businesses, local government and the community at large. Chairpersons for this innovative campaign are Amy Ferris and Karen Kontizas. Safe Haven will kickoff Paint Pike Purple with an art auction and reception on Friday Sept. 28 at the Muir House. Please call their office at 570-296-2827 to make your reservations. Many creative programs and events which promote domestic peace have been planned for October. You won’t want to miss the Candlelight Ceremony, the Mutts Meow Masquerade March, the agency’s Day of Dignity or a free massage available at participating salons! Be sure to watch for future announcements. Safe Haven provides direct services to clients in their office located at 500 West Harford Street, Milford, PA. After office hours, our hotline telephone (570-296-HELP) affords clients in crisis the opportunity to speak with a trained certified hotline volunteer. There are many ways to help Safe Haven. If you would like to participate in making Pike County a safer place to live why not call their office and find out what you can do.
