BARRYVILLE - On Saturday, October 22nd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Barryville New York’s Chamber of Commerce will host the third annual PumpkinFest at The Spring House Commons, River Market and throughout locations on Route 97 and River Road. “This year promises to be even bigger and more exciting than the past 2 years” says Co-Chair Mark Veeder. Responding to the popularity of last year’s CASH PRIZE contests, this year’s PumpkinFest will continue with the old favorites including the ever popular Costume Contests (pet and people of all ages), Bake-Off (all recipes must have pumpkin of course), Pumpkin Carving Contest and the ever-popular Pie-Eating Marathon, where two time reigning champion, “Skinny” VanTuyl will try to defend his title. Vendors will be more diverse and abundant than in past years. This year, a large number of vendors ranging from Stained Glass and Soap makers to Wood Turners and Weavers have been confirmed as well as a contingent of Fine Artists, Potters and Sculptures that will be displayed throughout the main floor of The Spring House. Auction and vendor’s booth fees will raise money for both the organization and the Red Cross, to help fund the Katrina relief efforts.
