BLOOMING GROVE — At press time, tri-state area police were conducting a manhunt for a Milford area man who stole a car, in Milford Tuesday, and fled to Orange County, N.Y. where he led police on a pursuit extending through the three states. According to state police in Middletown, N.Y. at 8:40 Tuesday evening, state police attempted to stop 25-year-old William J. Mullin in the stolen 2000 Ford Explorer near Middletown. He ran. They pursued through Port Jervis, N.Y., Matamoras and Westfall, where Eastern Pike Regional Police picked up the chase. Mullin reached the eastbound Interstate Highway 84, where he doubled back into New York. Mullin struck and caused minor damage to N.Y. State Police car as he exited the interstate and continued along N.J. state Route 23 in Montague. With N.J. State Police in pursuit, he eventually reached N.J. Route 206, where he headed north, back to Pennsylvania, crossing at the Milford Bridge. Mullin eventually crashed the vehicle and fled into the woods on foot. He eluded an air and ground search. Reportedly, Mullin was spotted again on foot Wednesday morning and fled once more. Pennsylvania State Police believe Mullin to still be in the area. Mullin is described as short, of medium build with dark hair, last seen wearing black pants with a gold and yellow shirt. He may be covered with mud. Anyone who sees the suspect is asked to contact state police at 570-226-5718.
