Toomey out-raises Sestak
ALLENTOWN U.S. Senate candidate and former small business owner Pat Toomey says he broke a new fundraising record for the second quarter of 2010 and out-raised his opponent Congressman Joe Sestak by over $1 million. Toomey raised $3.1 million and the campaign has $4.65 million cash on hand. Since Toomey’s announcement of his candidacy in April 2009, he has raised $10.3 million from over 54,000 contributors. He outraised his previous first quarter fundraising record by $800,000. The Toomey campaign says that, “With over 54,000 contributors and a clear lead in the polls, it is clear that Pennsylvanians are rallying to his message of less government and more jobs and rejecting Congressman Joe Sestak’s support for bailouts, massive tax increases, and record deficit spending. It is also clear that Pat is well positioned for victory in November.” The campaign released comments attributed to Toomey’s area business supporters. “If Joe Sestak really wanted to help small businesses, he would stop voting for billions of dollars in new taxes, new government regulations, and massive deficit spending. So far, his record has been decidedly anti-small business.” - Roy Schuman, Owner of AB Precision & Grinding, Easton “Pat Toomey used to run a small business right here in Allentown. I trust him to create jobs, not Joe Sestak.” - John Hinkle, Business Solutions, Lehigh County “Pat Toomey will bring a small business owner’s perspective to Washington. I remember how he ran his business right here in the Lehigh Valley. Buying local, dealing with other professionals, solving problems and meeting the payroll. Pat Toomey will never compromise his values or integrity!” - Jim Capehart, Buss Paints, Emmaus “I am so appreciative for all the support I have received for my candidacy,” Toomey said.
