Tourism bureau launches Twitter' campaign
MILFORD To help travelers make the most of their journeys to the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau (PMVB) has launched a social media campaign. Recently, the organization joined the online networks of Twitter, Facebook, Flicker and YouTube, in addition to blogging on their brand new site, 800poconos.com. The organization encourages media, visitors and fans of the region to follow and interact on these social sites where a cohesive username of PoconoTourism is used. “Social media is a key component to our current marketing efforts,” said Carl Wilgus, president and CEO of the PMVB. “We are thrilled with the current status of these sites and look forward to expanding our outreach.” On the organization’s Twitter (http://twitter.com/PoconoTourism) and Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/PoconoTourism?ref=ts) accounts, followers receive information about the region including news stories, story ideas, giveaways, events, videos, famous facts, free activities and more. Special offers and freebies from PMVB members including discounts, upgrades and special packages have also been extended to the organization’s fans and followers. PoconoTourism’s Flicker (http://www.flickr.com/photos/poconotourism/) and YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/PoconoTourism) accounts contain user-generated content, as well as photo tours and videos that are currently found on 800poconos.com. The organization’s blogs (http://www.800poconos.com/blog/) are written daily by five different in-house staff members who are passionate about exploring the Pocono Mountains and sharing their experiences. Each staffer has a one of the following aliases: Mommy & Me, The Weekender, Socialista, The Outdoorsian and PR Personality.
