Township passes a quiet holiday
DINGMAN Everything went well over the July 4 holiday weekend, reported Dingman Township Fire Chief Bill Mikulak at the Dingman Township Supervisors meeting on Tuesday. There were a couple of minor incidents, but no casualties with fireworks or otherwise. “A child playing got away from her grandma without her noticing, got locked in the trunk of her car at Sunrise (Lake),” said Mikulak, adding “The child was rescued by some workers nearby before we got on the scene.” The hot July evening meeting had only a few items. “I love these short summer meetings,” laughed the Supervisors Chairman Tom Mincer. Board Secretary and Treasurer Karen Kleist was authorized to file PennDOT documents online, “saving paper”, said Mincer in accordance with green thinking, and to the full agreement of the rest of the board. Only four properties are going on tax sale, while two lot improvements were authorized, one for a full permit, and the other for an extension. Code Enforcement Officer Chris Wood reported that fourteen people sought building permits for projects, four of them for houses within last three weeks, adding a new workshop regarding permits was planned for August. The 2010 US Census estimates Dingman Township population is 12,643, but the members of the board and officers thought the number might be more by a few thousand. Until official results are out, this figure will serve as a baseline for the township.
