MILFORD — Pike County Light & Power Company (PCL&P) is planning a free power supply profile in January for its interested commercial hospitality industry customers in the county. The utility will use the results of the profile to advise those: commercial food, lodging and beverage customers about obtaining the appropriate-sized supplemental generators to keep their businesses operating in the event of an interruption in their PCL&P-delivered electric service. PCL&P has preliminarily identified nearly 40 businesses that are eligible for this program. The power supply profiles are being conducted at the request of the Pike County Community Advisory Council, which provides an informational forum for two-way communications between the utility and community representatives. PCL&P Vice President for Customer Operations, Ed Ortiz said, “The community representatives on the Pike County Community Advisory Council explained the concerns of the local hospitality businesses, which represent a significant portion of the local economy in Pike County. Despite our best efforts to provide uninterrupted service, storms, accidents and other equipment damage can occur, resulting in outages. Based on the needs of their individual operations, business owners can use the results of their power supply profiles to make more informed judgments about their power supply requirements and how to best meet them.” The power supply profile will include data on the individual commercial customer’s full operational load and its vital load for refrigeration, freezers and similar equipment. PCL&P representatives will make recommendations about the size of the generator required, review the operational characteristics of each facility, provide a list of local suppliers and outline costs.
