Wagner meets with Secretary Chertoff

Milford n Pike County Commissioner Karl A. Wagner Jr., met with U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff during Chertoff’s recent visit to Pike County. Wagner discussed the importance of local emergency services with Chertoff prior to the Secretary’s speech at the annual Pike County Chamber of Commerce fundraiser where Chertoff cited preparedness in case of disaster as one of the pillars in the fight against terrorism. “I am currently working, in partnership with my fellow Commissioners, on development of an Emergency Services Training Facility for Pike County’s fire and ambulance volunteers,” said Wagner. “These individuals go above and beyond the call of duty every day to provide much needed services to our community.” Wagner is a veteran of the United States Air Force and has served Pike County as District Attorney and Commissioner. He is seeking re-election to the position of Commissioner in November. Wagner was elected Commissioner in 1999—serving as Chairman of the Board from 2000 to 2004.
