Wagner seeks re-election for commissioner

Milford Democrat seeks third term in county leadership Milford - Pike County Commissioner, Karl A. Wagner Jr. will seek re-election to the office of Pike County Commissioner. Commissioner Wagner was initially elected to the office in Nov. 1999 and then re-elected in Nov. 2003. “I truly enjoy my job. I believe as Commissioner that my first responsibility is always to the citizens of Pike County and I plan to continue to work hard to improve their quality of life,” said Wagner. Wagner’s statement said he has worked tirelessly for the citizens of Pike County for eight years and plans to continue his dedication to the county. Among Wagner’s accomplishments in office, he has worked with and provided technical assistance to Pike County’s municipalities to expand natural resource conservation efforts and has secured federal and state funding through grant programs focusing on green space and rural preservation. Wagner has established a new senior center in Lackawaxen Township; a transportation system for the disabled and with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, He is in the beginning stages of establishing a county-wide public transportation system. As a member of the Pocono Counties Workforce Investment Board, Wagner is working to secure funding to operate education, employment and training programs throughout the county. Wagner is also a member of several local boards that support our youth and has worked hard to develop and support beneficial programs for our troubled and disadvantaged children. Wagner is a graduate of Gettysburg College and Villanova Law School. After serving in the United States Air Force he returned to Milford as a partner in the Law firm of Beecher, Wagner, Rose and Klemeyer until his retirement in 1997. He is a former public defender, district attorney and solicitor for several municipal planning commissions and boards of supervisors/borough councils in Pike County. Commissioner Wagner resides in Milford Borough with his wife, Denise, and his daughter, Kimberly, who is a recent Delaware Valley High School graduate and presently a freshman at Penn State University Park. His son Karl III resides in Rosemont, and works in finance/investments. His daughter, Joye, resides in Washington, D.C. and is a Director of Recruiting for the Peace Corps.
