MILFORD — County Commissioner Karl Wagner confirmed Wednesday that county elections Director Yolanda Goldsack has requested transfer to another post. Wagner said the commissioners will meet in the next couple of days to consider a successor. “It’s an important post. We have to address the vacancy,” he said. Goldsack will remain on the job until they make a decision, Wagner said. Wagner, a Democrat, said Goldsack’s strong ties to the Republican Party had made her controversial. “There’s been questions ever since her appointment,” he said. The Republican Commissioners’ Chair Rich Caridi and Clerk Gary Orben were unavailable for comment, as was Mrs. Goldsack. Her husband, Bob Goldsack, said he could not speak to his wife’s decision, but termed Wagner’s comments as a political effort “to gain leverage in county government.” Julius Litman, Chairperson of the county Democratic Committee, issued a statement Monday calling Goldsack’s decision , “an act of service to Pike County’s voters.” Recent court-overturned ballot petitions and a voting controversy in Dingman contributed to criticism of Goldsack. Dingman voter Linda Boyle’s letter appears on page 12.
