MILFORD - Have you seen the commercials in which Wal-Mart talks about helping the communities in which it does business? Have you wondered if they help people in Pike County? Well, here is one example of how Wal-Mart and its employees support our community through donations to Pike United Way. Wal-Mart matches every dollar that an employee contributes to United Way through the Wal-Mart payroll deduction plan. This year, Wal-Mart, and its employees together provided more than $5,000 to help people in need here in Pike County. This includes contributions from employees at Wal-Mart locations outside Pike County who have chosen Pike United Way in their hometown to receive their pledge. United Way is asking employees of other companies that offer a matching program of any kind please consider participating and designating United Way of Pike County as the recipient. Their code number for this purpose is 40129. Any gift, large or small will be used exclusively in Pike County to fund needed local human services and initiatives. For more information visit the website www.unitedwaypike.org. The website also highlights programs and services that currently receive allocations of United Way funds.
