Walk for shelter pets/Operation Baghdad Pups

PORT JERVIS, N.Y. Join in for the 18th annual Walk for Shelter Pets and this year’s Operation Baghdad Pups. This fall, organizers will be contributing a portion of the money received through walk pledges to Operation Baghdad Pups (OBP). OBP is an effort by the International SPCA to enable service men and women who are deployed in the Middle East bring the animals that have helped them survive the conflict home when they return to the United States. Together we can help the animals at the Humane Society of Port Jervis and help a service member bring their best friend home to America. Festivities throughout the day include: a pet supply marketplace, with lots of goodies for separate purchase; Artists In Residence (watch & marvel!), An Obedience Fun Match by the Tri-State Obedience Club, A super raffle table with wonderful prizes donated by different friends of our shelter and Claudia’s Dog House, selling great hot dogs & nachos. You can also meet local hero, Theodore, a Middletown, N.Y. soldier with his dog, Maddy. There will also be another soldier and puppy attending Sgt. Melanie Groff-Berlin and her puppy Lola (Maddy’s sister). Melanie is from Tannersville, N.Y in the Catskills. Come thank Theodore and Melanie for their service and hear of Maddy and Lola’s journey home to the United States. Call 845-856-3677 or visit www.pjhumane.org/PJHumaneWalk2010.html.
