DINGMAN — Employees of Wayne Bank recently visited the Delaware Valley School District to teach the third grade classes the importance of saving money, as part of the American Bankers Association Education Foundation’s Teach Children to Save Program. Participants included Wayne Bank employees from the Milford branch: Mary Alice Petzinger, Toni Stenger, Betty Rufano; Wendy Davis, Shohola branch; Sandy Mruczkewycz, Lords Valley branch; and Karen Peach, from Wayne Bank’s corporate office in Honesdale. They joined thousands of bankers across the country who helped fill the need for financial education. Throughout the month of April, Wayne Bank’s employees presented to 17 third grade classes, totaling 407 students, in the Delaware Valley School District. “The importance of saving money is a life skill which is sometimes overlooked, and our bankers took time out of their busy schedules to visit our local schools to help fill the gap and prepare children for future financial success,” stated Bill Davis, Wayne Bank president and CEO. The presentation included games and activities that focused on various concepts such as saving money, how interest makes money grow, making a budget and determining needs versus wants.
