Wayne Memorial CEO earns prestigious title

Honesdale - David Hoff, Chief Executive Officer of Wayne Memorial Hospital and Health System, has earned a new professional credential: Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). Hoff, who has a Masters in Health Administration from Ohio State University and a Masters in Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University, in addition to more than 25 years of healthcare management experience, says this new title is “the highest professional credential in healthcare management” The requirements for an ACHE Fellow are rigorous: a tough all-day Board of Governors’ Examination, an advanced academic degree, a healthcare management position and at least five years of healthcare management experience, references from other Fellows, 40 hours of continuing education credits and participation in healthcare and community or civic activities. Hoff, who has been at Wayne Memorial for five years, had no difficulty fulfilling the requirement for community service. Among other outside activities, he is on the Board of Directors for the YMCA, a member of the Greater Honesdale Partnership and the Treasurer of WEDCO (Wayne Economic Development Corporation). All positions are voluntary, and while Hoff admits they take time, he is “pleased to be able to offer back to the community” his particular expertise. “I like being involved,” Hoff says. Hoff is especially pleased to have earned the “Fellow” title from ACHE. “It shows our community my personal commitment to the profession of healthcare management” The ACHE is an international professional society of more than 30,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. ACHE holds an annual Congress on Healthcare Leadership and publishes several journals and magazines, including the Journal of Healthcare Management and Healthcare Executive.
