What to do about tree bugs
MILFORD The Delaware Highlands Conservancy and the US Forest Service are sponsoring an ongoing series of workshops for forest landowners in Pike and Monroe counties. The first woodland owner workshop, “Forest Health and Insects: What Do I Do?” will take place on Thursday, Apr. 16 from 6:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. at the Grey Towers National Historic Site in Milford. Presenters Thomas Hall, forest pathologist and Tim Marasco, chief of field operations of the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Forest Pest Management Division will discuss the top five destructive insects found in Pennsylvania’s forests and their effects on the health of the forest. The hemlock woolly adelgid, eastern tent caterpillar, fall webworm, gypsy moth and the emerald ash borer are severely impacting our forests and forest landowners need to be aware of the current control methods available to combat this destruction. The program is free and open to the general public, but prior registration is required. To reserve your space at the workshop please pre-register by Apr. 8. Future workshop dates are June 20, Aug. 8, and Oct. 24. Please watch for future announcements. For more information and reservations, please call the Delaware Highlands Conservancy at 570-226-3164 or send an e-mail to info@delawarehighlands.org.
