Winter Olympics celebrated at Shohola

Shohola Elementary School third grade students decorated their hallway with Olympic Rings that they made. They are excited about the 2010 Winter Olympics being held in Vancouver, British Columbia, this month. Most of the third-graders were only 4 or 5 years old when the last winter Olympics were held. Linda Brown’s third grade class did research on various aspects of the winter games and its history. Students found out about different ceremonies, symbols, events, and how it all started. They learned about the oath the athletes take and the lighting of the Olympic Flame. The third graders displayed all their research on a bulletin board for all the school to see and learn from. They also made medals, posters, flags, and torches to adorn their boards. Pictured are the third graders with their teachers, Allen Brocius, Linda Brown and Sarah Jacobus pictured left to right. Jill Mann is missing from the photo.
