Woman dies in Pike fire

    MILLRIFT — State police Wednesday had no final report on the cause of an early morning Dec. 8 fire that took the life of 19-year-old Amanda Tooley. Tooley resided in one of two second-floor apartments at the historic MillRift Inn, where she was found after the fire was extinguished. The occupant of the second apartment escaped. Firefighters and equipment from eight Pike County, Orange County, N.Y. and Sussex County, N.J. departments were called to fight the 4:33 a.m. fire. The Inn, on Bluestone Boulevard, is owned by Delaware Highlands Properties and Ralph Burger of Matamoras. It reopened in Nov. 2006, following extensive renovations.
