Sue Currier, Executive Director of the Delaware Highlands Conservancy, will present the “The Financial Benefits of Land Conservation” on Wednesday, March 31, from 7 to 9 p.m. The workshop will be held at the PPL Environmental Learning Center in Hawley. Learn how to keep cherished lands in your family and protect the landscape in perpetuity. Accountants, lawyers, financial planners and realtors will learn how to help clients minimize estate taxes. Town officials will learn how to use conservation easements as an effective planning tool for their communities. Since 1994 the Conservancy has protected over 12,000 acres of land by working with landowners in Pike and Wayne Counties in Pennsylvania and Sullivan and Delaware Counties in New York. “I have been providing legal advice on a pro bono basis to Delaware Highlands Conservancy for over 15 years. It has been rewarding doing so because there is much satisfaction in conserving land in our region for all time,” said Hawley Real Estate Attorney Tony Waldron. “The community benefits by protection of water quality, scenic views, wildlife habitat and working lands generating local revenue.” The program is free and open to the general public.
