Workshop offered for women forest landowners
Hawley The Delaware Highlands Conservancy and the Federal Forest Service at Grey Towers will present a workshop, specially tailored for women forest landowners, on Saturday, Feb. 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the PPL Environmental Learning Center, in Hawley. (Snow date: Saturday, March 6.) Participants will learn about funding available through the NRCS office and the 2008 Farm Bill for conservation opportunities on property. Presenter Jill Weaver, NRCS Northeast Region District Conservationist for Pike, Wayne, Lackawanna and Monroe Counties, will introduce women to funding opportunities, including the EQIP-Environmental Quality Incentives Program, WHIP-Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program and CSP-Conservation Stewardship Program. The program is free and open to the general public, but prior registration is required. To reserve a space register by Feb. 19. Future workshop dates in this series are May 1, Aug. 8 and Nov. 6.
