An eye opener
To the editor: I want to thank Gabrielle Cerberville (Courier Feb. 23) for opening my eyes to why we should be given the opportunity to learn about Creationism versus only studying the Theory of Evolution in our public schools today. I pray that she and her parents continue to keep their minds opened to the possibilities and probabilities that there is a God and that He has“... created each individual living thing... with its own unique purpose in the scheme of life...” It is amazing that our education system continue to teach “theory” that has so often been discredited by science itself. If we think, however, they will quickly change their ways and start believing in a Creator, then I believe we kid ourselves. 2 Timothy 4:3, describes a time when people will not put up with sound doctrine but suit their own desires by gathering a great number of teachers around them to say what their itching ears want to hear. All one needs do is to look at our education system today and see that the time about which 2 Timothy 4:3 speaks is today! In the Book of Numbers 14:11, God asks Moses “How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in Me...?” God goes on to say in verse 12 “I will strike them down... and destroy them...”. If we are waiting for the Public Education System to make these changes, I am afraid we will be defeated. However, if we take even some of the actions that Gabrielle and her parents have taken, and make it our responsibility to teach our children about God and Creation (or better yet, have the kids themselves teach each other), then I believe we can see victory for this generation rather then defeat. God says in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “...if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, pray, seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, the I will hear from heaven, forgive their sins and heal their land”. That is what we need in our land today and that is what I believe this young one has taught this older one to practice. What about you? Michael J. Neel Milford
