County commissioners and warehouses

I am writing in response to Robert Ruiz’s letter about Christa Caceras and his assertion that the mega-warehouse project is not in the purview of the commissioners.

Weak municipal zoning issues aside, it is the Pike County Economic Development Authority, people directly hired by and who work for our commissioners, who developed the marketing plan and helped find the sites for these mega-warehouses at the Milford, Lords Valley, and Greentown I-84 exchanges. For that reason, I want to understand how Mr. Ruiz thinks that the threat of an estimated 800 trucks going in and out of each of those warehouses every single day is not in the purview of the commissioners. When the Pike County Economic Development Authority meets with their bosses, the commissioners, what do they discuss?

This is one of the biggest issues we are facing in Pike County. It affects everything about how we live and what we love about this place. I will vote only for the one candidate who has been openly against this development, Christa Caceres.
