Experience matters

I attended Monday night’s county commissioner candidate forum at the American Legion. My take-a-way... experience matters!

The incumbent commissioners were hands down more knowledgeable then the new challenger. They know the duties of a county commissioner. Remember, experience matters!

Osterberg and Schmalzle spoke clearly to the questions without notes while the challenger needed typed written notes that were read like a campaign speech. The challenger’s “I’m confused” facial expressions while the incumbents spoke were a bit entertaining though. Remember, experience matters!

Many of the questions were directed to zoning and land use. Unfortunately, those would be good questions if these four candidates were running for township supervisors. Further, unfortunately, the challenger answers as if they were in the purview of a county commissioner. Remember, experience matters!

When it came to EMS services, the newbie stated only one township had 24-hour EMS services. That is flat out wrong! But, that’s because this challenger just doesn’t know the county. Remember, experience matters!

When it came time to answer about infrastructure, again the challenger was lost within county roles and municipal responsibilities. One more time, land use and zoning are municipal responsibilities! But, the challenger didn’t know this and read answers off her paper that were misleading. Side note; as for the question on county transportation, honestly, I wasn’t clear at all on what the challenger’s vision is for this. I am totally supportive on the need for county transportation and for what is currently being accomplished to address this issue. Remember, experience matters!

For me, the challenger simply has no grasp on where county responsibilities end and municipal begins.

It is imperative that we keep the incumbents in office.

So when you vote on Tuesday, November 7, remember, experience matters!

    Vote Osterberg and Schmalzle!
